Overview
The Facilities Maintenance technician is responsible to perform general preventive and corrective maintenance of building systems, equipment and grounds.
Job Responsibilities
· Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs such as plumbing leaks, electrical issues, HVAC problems, and structural damage;
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and prolong the lifespan of equipment;
- Diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment, systems, and structures including but not limited to plumbing fixtures, electrical circuits, HVAC units, and building components;
- Troubleshoot issues efficiently to restore functionality and minimize disruptions.
- Perform general repairs and renovations such as painting, carpentry, drywall repair, and floor maintenance;
- Ensure that facilities are aesthetically pleasing, functional, and compliant with safety standards;
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests such as floods, power outages, and safety hazards. Take appropriate action to mitigate damage, restore operations, and ensure the safety of occupants;
- Maintain and repair various types of equipment including power tools, machinery, and mechanical systems;
- Keep equipment in good working condition through regular inspections, lubrication, and replacement of parts as needed;
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment for yourself and others;
- Identify and address safety hazards promptly to prevent accidents and injuries;
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs;
- Report any significant issues, concerns, or recurring maintenance needs to supervisor for further evaluation and action;
- Perform other required tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in facilities maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, or related field preferred;
- Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a similar role, demonstrating proficiency in various maintenance tasks and repair techniques;
- Strong technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems;
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and best practices for facilities maintenance;
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail;
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, tenants, and contractors;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize tasks effectively;
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects;
- Able to write routine reports and correspondence;
- Attention to detail and organization;
- Basic Microsoft Office skills: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
