Overview

The Machine Operator is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and adjusting equipment on the pretzel manufacturing line to ensure efficient production, consistent product quality, and adherence to food safety standards.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor pretzel-making equipment, including mixers, extruders, ovens, proofers, conveyors, seasoners, and packaging machines;
  • Adjust machine settings such as speed, temperature, pressure, and dough consistency to maintain product specifications;
  • Perform start-up, shutdown, and changeover procedures as required;
  • Continuously observe equipment for proper functioning and identify any abnormalities;
  • Ensure pretzels meet quality standards for shape, size, texture, and bake color;
  • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP guidelines, and food safety protocols;
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work area to prevent contamination;
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures, including proper PPE usage and lockout/tagout practices;
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or injuries to the supervisor;
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team for escalated equipment issues;
  • Work collaboratively with line workers, quality technicians, and supervisors to meet production targets;
  • Assist with raw material loading, dough handling, seasoning changes, and packaging activities when needed;
  • Perform other required tasks as assigned.

 

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • One year of experience in a food processing/manufacturing/production environment is required;
  • Familiarity with automated production lines;
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and machine interfaces (HMI);
  • Must possess good English communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Must be able to listen and follow basic instructions and work routines from superiors;
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating instructions;
  • Ability to understand and follow safety rules and instructions;
  • Able to work in both a hot and cold environment;
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds frequently throughout a day;
  • Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach and bend for extended periods of time;
  • Exhibit a positive attitude within a team environment;
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
